The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0° Fahrenheit and never fluctuated more than a fraction – this is essential to avoid the risk of a freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within an hour, and remained at the temperature throughout our tests. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers that can help you better organize the position of items. It has a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate container for ice. Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a great way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home. The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't improve the performance of the fridge. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this fridge as compared to other fridges we tested. This is likely due to the larger capacity. Another issue with the door of this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a difficult time closing them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had handles mounted on the front. The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with an efficient layout. It has a capacity that is above average for counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also less expensive than the best counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which can make it an attractive option. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator If you're looking for a French door refrigerator that won't cost you a fortune, this Frigidaire is a good choice. It's a basic refrigerator that may not be as attractive as its rivals however it has enough features to make it a an excellent option. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser and a decent Ice machine that is fast. Another feature that is worth mentioning is the “Chill Drawer” that sits over the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect some of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, meaning you can put away food items that need extra attention. You can adjust the feature using the slider located on the outside of the drawer. It is also possible to use this to set a general cooling setting for the entire fridge, though I've found that adjusting the generic settings tends to be more effective than specific ones. In my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different parts of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator didn't vary much from 38 degrees. This is a good performance, but it doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings. This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat in order to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.
